It was with great saddness that we learned of the passing of Joan Wilkinson this past March, the beloved spouse of our former RI President (2007-08) Wilf Wilkinson.
As Canadians, we were extremely proud to have Wilf serve as our International President and we were always delighted to see Joan by his side. Joan was an outstanding first lady for Rotary. She was deeply devoted to Wilf, her family, and to the Rotary family. Having met her on several occasions I always admired the fact that she went out of her way to meet people and make them feel at home.
I attended Joan's memorial service on behalf of District 7010 and have recently received a lovely note from former RI President Wilf which I wanted to share with members of our District (please see attached).
On behalf of Rotary, thank you to all who took time to express their condolences to Wilf and his family and who made a donation to the Rotary Foundation in Joan's memory. Your thoughtfulness is overwhelming.
